Derek Jeter - A Network Marketing All-Star?

Derek Jeter is pretty much a household name at the writing of this article. Whether you follow baseball or not, you've probably heard that Derek just got his 3000th hit, rocketing him to Hall of Fame status.

So what the heck does that amazing little factoid have to do with being a network marketing all-star? Only pretty much everything!

Let's take a look at what it took for Derek Jeter to get that 3000th hit. Do you think he spent all of his time just reading and studying on the physics and mechanics of how to hit a baseball? I don't think so.

Do you think he spent all of his time talking about being a great baseball player and wishing he could be great at batting? Bzzzt!! Wrong answer!

So what DID Derek Jeter do? He practiced. He mastered the basics and then practiced, practiced, practiced, just like any super star in any sport or any other arena does, INCLUDING network marketing.

Sure it's important to learn and master new skills, but these skills are always built on the basic building blocks, whether its baseball or network marketing. Consistent, persistent, focused performance of the basic tasks needed to be successful are what it takes to become an all-star in any arena.

The Derek Jeter Map to Network Marketing Success

So what are the basic building blocks for becoming a network marketing all-star? Pretty much the same ones you need to become a baseball all-star. Here's the short list:

Commitment. You need to commit to a minimum of 3-5 years of consistent effort in building your business - a commitment to never quit, to never give up or back off of your focused effort, no matter what! Derek Jeter has been playing pro ball since 1995 and has struck out more than 1600 times with more than 9600 at bats, before reaching that 3000th hit. NO WAY could he have done that without a serous long-term commitment. The right coaches, trainers and mentors. Being teachable, trainable and accountable are crucial to your success in any new endeavor. Developing the right mindset is just as important as developing the right skills, and aligning yourself with the right people will help you do that and allow you to go farther, faster. A plan of action. You need to have an effective action plan that you can follow to reach your goals. This is something your mentor, coach or trainer can help you develop and tweak in order for you to reach your goals in the shortest time possible.

That's the short list folks. ANYBODY can become the "Derek Jeter" of network marketing. Find a company and a team that you can be passionate about, make that long-term commitment, align yourself with the right leaders, create and follow your plan of action, and live the life of your dreams.
